Etnies Presents Brasileiro
Posted: Jul 31, 2012
etnies is proud to announce that through its Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree project, our men's and Kids Jameson 2 Eco and women's Caprice Eco shoes (pictured below) made with recycled materials have helped etnies to plant 70,000 trees in the Atlantic Rainforest, a region in Brazil that has only seven percent of its rainforest remaining. The video, featured below, will give you some insight into the project and what's being done in Brazil to help teach students about reforestation.
It's more than halfway into the second year of etnies' Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree reforestation project and with etnies pro team riders and fans supporting this cause, it's been a huge success. In 2011, etnies planted 35,000 trees in Costa Rica (you can see the etnies team planting trees in the Pura Vida video series) and this year, the project expanded to Brazil where etnies, with Trees for the Future, has helped to plant 70,000 trees so far! By the end of 2012, etnies will have planted 100,000 thanks to everyone who made the project the success that it is by getting themselves a pair of etnies Jameson 2 Eco or Caprice Eco shoes.
To show the work being done in South America with Trees for the future, etnies' video crew headed out to Brazil with our pro surf team. In the video, "Brasiliero | etnies Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree: Brazil," etnies surfers Matt Wilkinson, Brett Simpson, Benji Weatherly and Chris Del Moro spent some time together in Rio surfing, hang gliding and then traveling to Sao Paulo to visit etnies' Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree (BASPAT) project. They got to see, first-hand, the work that etnies and Trees for the Future are doing to help replenish the forests and how the program is teaching Brazilian teenagers and children about sustainability and reforestation.
