The Westbeach Store in Vancouver BC is closing. The iconic location on West 4th is finally closing it's doors afters years of servicing the skate/snow community in the lower mainland. The store is now owned by Comar and they made the tough decision to close the doors. SBC Business has been assured by Westbeach direct that this decision has no bearing to the state of the brand. The Below statement was provided by Ed Seymour, director of global sales.
Like Mark Twain, “reports of our death are greatly exaggerated”. Westbeach is more alive than ever before.
And it’s time to set a few mistruths straight. For the second time in recent years Westbeach has licensed a retailer to have the brand name on a store front. In both cases the retailer decided on a new strategy and the store everyone loved as Westbeach closed. This has no effect on Westbeach as a brand and our ability to deliver killer outerwear.
Actually to say this has had no effect on Westbeach is not quiet the case, We are deeply saddened by this turn of events and have decided now is the time to take back control of our own destiny. Westbeach started out by selling direct to customers from its own shop. We intend to update this model for the 21st century.
From this Spring and for the foreseeable future Westbeach will be available on line only and in a few carefully selected retailers. This will bring some great benefits to customers who will get amazing deals and offers.
