INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY:

SBC MEDIA, EDITORIAL INTERN

Position through West coast Office, Vancouver BC

Duration: Three-month internship starting immediately

One to two days per week or as requested by supervisor.

SBC Media, Canada’s 1^st choice in action sports.

You need to be an engaging writer and tenacious fact-checker. In this role, you will write, research, fact-check, interview and coordinate. Other responsibilities include various administrative tasks, such as picking up items for photo shoots and doing a lot of general frenzied running around. You need to have an in depth knowledge and understanding on the action sports industry, athletes and scene. Mainly relating to skateboard, snowboard and surf. You will be mainly working with but not exclusive to SBC Business Magazine, SBC Skateboard Magazine and Snowboard Canada Magazine.

Requirements and responsibilities:

Fact checking magazine content.

Researching and writing for several departments.

Proofreading copy for print and for website.

Researching upcoming feature stories.

Attend editorial meetings as requested.

Distribute magazines to retail and vendors throughout Greater Vancouver area.

Return products used for departments and other photo shoots.

Write for the website and newsletter.

Basic photo resizing and cropping for web content.

Basic understanding of blogging and uploading content for web.

A working knowledge of Photoshop would be an asset.

Have a valid drivers license and your own car.

Attendance and coverage of events for magazine and website content.

Other duties as assigned by your editor.
