This seems like a great combo. New Balance has been making amazing footwear for 20 years, while 686 creates some of the best looking outerwear in the industry. As good as peanut butter and chocolate? Ok, maybe not that good, but these boots look great and provide great comfort and fit.
686 and New Balance are pleased to introduce their newest and lightest model to date, the Times NB 1971 Speedlace boot. 686 have developed materials with New Balance that allows them to manufacture much more comfortable boots that weigh a lot less. Using new Dynamite TM EVA foam as well as an open Cell PO foam and memory foam creates the optimum comfort and fit that you would get with a sneaker. The idea was to step away from the concept that a liner should add stiffness to the boot and instead use the liner essentially as padding that provides comfort and fit. The stiffness and core support are created by the outer boot, which is not only closer to the foot, but can do this more efficiently and with a super smooth flex. On top of all that, this new construction allows the boots to have significantly shorter outsoles.
